Bregovic’s „Three Letters from Sarajevo“ in Zagreb

Goran Bregovic’s new work „Three Letters from Sarajevo“ is inspired by Sarajevo as a metaphor for a peaceful cohabitation and also the horror of hate. As ”Jerusalem of the Balkans” Sarajevo in its history has been part of many empires:  Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Austro-Hungarian – habited by people of many religions: Christian, Islam, and Jew. The violin solo part of „Three Letters from Sarajevo“, each representing one monotheism,  are interpreted by a solo violinist from different cultural traditions and performed by  Mirjana Nešković (Belgrade), Zied Zouari (Tunis) and Gershon Leizerson (Tel Aviv).

As part of festival Zagreb Classic in Tomislav square Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by maestro Krešimir Batinić, Bregović’s Orchestra for Wedding and Funeral and violin soloists will perform „Three Letters from Sarajevo“  on 29.6. at 21:00h. Don’t miss this unique rendezvous with Sarajevo history in the heart of Zagreb.
