One of the most promising bands, Lika Kolorado, released new single and video “Kontura”.

“In the midst of new developments, including the recent, catastrophically backward decision of the US Supreme Court on abortion, we made a video that reminds us that, at least as far as we notice, misogyny in our region is a matter of systematic repression deep in our social order. Maliciously subtle that we often forget and notice it. All of us, each of us, in our own way, regardless of gender, maintain this order in life, often unaware that we do. In relation to this video, we tried to talk about the expectations we have of women and their bodies – how to look, how to behave, what to look for from these bodies, often robotically removed from the person to whom it belongs. Second, someone else, some fictitious and often unattainable picture of the ideal that we all impose on each other despite knowing how much it can harm, how far the path to that unattainable goes along devours the individual and the society to which he belongs, ” the band said.

The young actress Lucija Rukavina is the star of the “Kontura” video, the make-up artist is Sanja Hrstić, responsible for the costumes is Iva Rukavina, and Igor Ilić is responsible for the camera. The video is directed by the singer and author of the band, Filip Riđički.

“We in the band are not immune either – the song “Kontura” itself is a kind of reconciliation and recognition at least for me as the author of the text, as much as I support that plastic standard of female body and beauty, no matter how often it is unattainable.” It is expected from me, to expect it from you ”says the song itself, in the refrain where I insist that each of us “ breaks where it stings”, breaks where we cannot fill that plastic, impose the mold of what we ourselves have placed on the pedestal as what we must strive for. The band’s conclusion is that this, the imposition of a woman’s body ideal, is a factor, however subtle, in banning a woman’s sovereignty over her own body. It is one of the steps between subtly imposing what we expect you to look like, to just awful, recent events regarding women’s rights”, points out Riđički.

The acclaimed album “Kontura” (Classic Records, 2020) is the second studio release of Lika Kolorado, which you can listen to on all streaming services.
